Today, Virginia topped CNBC's list of top state for business for 2011. Since CNBC first put the list together in 2007, Virginia has finished either first or second. This year, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia and Colorado rounded out the top five.
In the tri-state area, Pennsylvania ranked 12th, New Jersey, 30th, and Delaware, 36th.
The rankings took into account ten different categories including cost of doing business, quality of life, economy, education, cost of living and others.
