Rutgers Has New Rules for Bangladesh-Made Apparel

Rutgers University says it is requiring companies that make its licensed apparel in Bangladesh must agree to fire and building safety requirements.

New Jersey's flagship state university says it's the 16th U.S. university to require licensees to sign the Accord on Fire and Building Safety.

The document came about after a fire in a factory outside Dhaka last year killed 1,100 workers and injured another 2,500.

So far, 19 companies have signed the agreement, including six that do business with Rutgers.

The university says 13 other licensees have until July 1 to sign the accord.
