This Veterans Day, several local businesses are taking part in nationwide initiatives to provide jobs for military veterans and their spouses — a need that is larger than many civilians may realize.
In 2012, the average unemployment rate for post-9/11 veterans was around 10 percent, which was nearly two points above the national average, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
For military veterans aged 18-24, the unemployment rate is more than 20 percent. That's more than five percentage points higher than the average among non-veterans of the same age. Read more about this story on PBJ.com
