Die, Muzak, Die!

The silver lining to the financial crisis' dark cloud was announced Wednesday morning: elevator music may soon be dead.

It's never nice to think about companies going bankrupt and people losing jobs. But when Muzak Corporation -- the company responsible for annoying people in elevators since 1930 -- announced it was filing for bankruptcy, a collective sigh of relief went out in high rises and dentist's offices across the country.

It's important to note that Muzak is only filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, meaning it's going to restructure itself and try to stay in business.

Let's hope it shows mercy on the world and lets the smooth jazz versions of Celine Dion's greatest hits go the way of the dodo.
