College Class Dissecting Obamacare in Real Time

The Affordable Care Act has created a lot of confusion, angst, relief and fear among the various constituencies affected by it.

The health-care reform law has also created a new course opportunity for the University of the Sciences in West Philadelphia.

Stephen Metraux, interim director of the Health Policy Program in the USciences’ Department of Health Policy and Public Health, is teaching the class called, appropriated enough, Health Policy 763 - The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

"The idea came to me in the summer," Metraux said. "Every once in a while you have an issue in health care that you can study in real time. It was clear the ACA would be one of those issues. We spend about half of the course learning about the nuts and bolts of the act and the other half watching it evolve." Read more about this story on PBJ.com
