New Pocono Resort Owners Promise Business as Usual

The new owners of a popular area mountain resort are promising to keep things mostly the same.

Poconos ski resort Camelback was sold to a real estate investment company, but officials say the resort operators will remain.

The Pocono Record reports EPR Properties bought Camelback  Mountain Resort last week from Spirit Realty Capital for $69.25 million.

The resort is leased by operators CBH2O, the principals of which are local businessman Art Berry and partner Ken Ellis.

Berry says it will be “business as usual” following the sale.

“...except we are building a 450-room hotel and a 120,000-square-foot indoor water park, making Camelback Mountain Resort the most interactive resort in the country, so I guess in that regard it's quite sensational," Berry told the paper.

The resort earlier announced plans to add an indoor water park, a 453-room hotel, restaurants and conference areas. Officials hope to finish construction by Christmas of next year.

This sale came as news broke that Seven Springs Resort in Western Pennsylvania had paid $7.5 million to buy nearby Hidden Valley Resort.
