Atlantic City Goes Forward With Plans to Turn Defunct Airport Into Sports/Entertainment Complex

Atlantic City has begun negotiations with a developer for a sports-related remake of the former Bader Field airport site.

The Press of Atlantic City reported the city signed a memorandum of understanding with Bader Field Sports LLC. The Midland Park company submitted one of the four proposals opened by the city on April 14.

The company's proposal envisions turning the site into "a world-class destination for multi-sports, including soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey and more."

It also proposed construction of a senior citizen center, college dormitories, classrooms, a boardwalk promenade, several restaurants and possibly an indoor waterpark.

The agreement is not binding, and any final decisions on plans for the site have to be approved by the City Council.
