Jumper Struck, Killed on SEPTA Tracks

SEPTA trains came to a halt during rush hour Thursday after a woman apparently threw herself onto the tracks at 8th and Market, officials said.

The unidentified woman was hit by an EL subway train around 3:25 p.m., said authorities.

The incident was possibly a suicide. Two witnesses saw the older woman throw herself in front of the train, said SEPTA officials.

SEPTA was running shuttle buses along the Market-Frankford Line between the 15th Street Station and Spring Garden Station, said a spokesperson. The shuttle busing continued as of 5.

Full service should be returned some time Thursday evening.
