Basement Wall Collapses in Group Home for Adults With Special Needs

South Jersey firefighters responded a group home Wednesday morning after the report of a collapse.

Cumberland County dispatchers said that crews responded to the Genoa Group Home on Genoa Avenue in Vineland around 7:30 a.m.

Crews on the scene said a 30-foot span of basement wall inside the home collapsed inside the home overnight.

Firefighters said that five adults with special needs and three staffers were sleeping at the time of the collapse.

No one was injured.

Residents weren't able to return home while crews investigated. Emergency Responders transported the residents to another location.

Firefighters said that the home sits on high ground and didn't flood but that the rain likely played a role in the collapse.
