Police Find Suspect in Ventilation Shaft During Standoff at Bucks County Gun Shop

Police closed off the area around a Bucks County shopping center early Monday due to a standoff at a gun shop where one suspect was caught inside a ventilation shaft of a neighboring business.

Officers cleared the area and closed roads along the Levittown Parkway near U.S. Route 13 in Tullytown, Pennsylvania around 2 a.m. Monday to respond to a barricade situation at Mike’s Gun Shop, which is across Levittown Parkway from the Levittown Shopping Center.

They also asked residents to stay inside their homes as officers responded to the scene.

The barricade situation began after the suspects were spotted burglarizing the store, said Tullytown Police. Police said one suspect was on the roof of the business when they arrived.

Officers later found a suspect trying to hide in the ventilation system of Arianna's Pizzeria next door, said police.

That suspect then told officers that another suspect remained inside the gun shop, said investigators.

"It's dark out and that's, kind of, hindering our efforts to see if he's armed or not," said Police Chief Daniel Doyle.

Officers nabbed the other suspect around 10 a.m. -- ending the nearly eight-hour barricade.

Police reported no injuries.

SWAT teams from around Bucks County were called into help with the situation.

School officials closed St. Michael the Archangel School for the day and all Pennsbury School District schools opened after a two-hour delay.
