Authorities Search for Child Who Fell in Creek

Fire department and police officials rushed to Tookany Creek in the Tacony section of Philadelphia Friday afternoon after reports that a young boy had fallen into the water.

A woman told police that a man had approached her saying that a boy had fallen into the creek near Adams Avenue and Crescentville Road around 2:45 p.m.

She thought she saw a 6- or 7-year-old boy wearing a gray hoodie in the water. But when the woman looked again the boy was gone.

Authorities rushed to the scene. But as of 5 p.m. they still weren’t able to confirm if anyone had actually fallen into the waters swelled by rainfall Friday.

The search was called off with no sign of the child. There were no missing children reports filed in the area, police said.
