Man Shot, Killed in S. Philly

Shots ring out near Philly cheesesteak landmarks

A 47-year-old man was shot dead just around the corner from two of Philadelphia’s most famous eateries Thursday night.

The shooting happened around 8:30 at 8th and Earp Streets in South Philly. This is about a block and a half away from Philly cheesesteak landmarks Geno’s and Pat’s.

The shops apparently had nothing to do with the shooting

The victim was shot in the head and chest, Philadelphia Police said.

He was pronounced dead around 9:30 p.m.

There were no immediate suspects or motives for the crime.
