Child Fights for Life After Near Drowning

A child nearly drowned in Delaware County Monday night after storms battered the area.

Emergency crews responded to the 200 block of Pembroke Avenue around 8:10 after reports that a 12-year-old boy had been swept down a nearby creek, according to Radnor Township Police.

The child was playing with two friends when they allegedly began to play in a raft on the water, said cops.

The unidentified boy was swept away by the currents, cops said.

Some of the creek goes underground and it's possible that they boy went under at some point, according to witnesses and police.

He was rescued and taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital then transferred to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he was in critical condition, officials said.
