Police Nab Accidentally-Released Prisoner

One of the two prisoners erroneously released from a Delaware County prison recently was back behind bars Monday.

Ateia Polk was picked up Sunday in Philadelphia. Details of the 32-year-old’s release weren’t made available but she was reportedly nabbed using the alias of Taneesha Stevens, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Polk was in the George Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton, Pa. after being charged with robbery, assault and making terroristic threats after an April incident at an Upper Darby beauty supply store where the owner of the store alleged that Polk stole costume jewelry and tried to stab him.

She was released in July despite her bail having been revoked.

She isn’t the only prisoner that the Delaware County prison released recently due to clerical mistakes. David West, 19, was let go earlier this month and in June accused killer Taaqi Brown got a free pass. West remains on the loose while Brown turned himself in.

Polk is scheduled to be in court in Delaware County in October.
