Cops Zero in on Person of Interest in Butt-Enhancement Death

There is a person of interest in the case of the British woman who died after receiving injections to make her buttocks bigger, Philadelphia Police said Thursday afternoon.

But, cops didn’t release a name in hopes that the woman believed to be behind the injections would turn herself in.

The person likely has no medical training and was likely operating without a license.

Claudia Aderotimi, a 20-year-old East Londoner who aspired to be a model, died early Tuesday after receiving butt enhancement surgery inside a hotel room at the Hampton Inn in Southwest Philadelphia Monday afternoon.

Aderotimi started to complain of chest pain around midnight and died around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday after being taken to a Delaware County hospital, police said.

The preliminary cause of death was attributed to silicone injected into her vascular system, ultimately stopping her heart, according to the Delaware County medical examiner, but it is "pending further studies." The autopsy could take weeks to be finalized.

But, Philly Police Captain Ben Naish believes that the illegal butt injections led to Aderotimi’s death.

On Thursday police executed search warrants on two Main Line apartments possibly connected to the person of interest. Just after daybreak police entered a Narberth apartment and later in the day they entered an Ardmore apartment.

Authorities could be seen carrying several bags and boxes out of the units. Silicone was among the seized items, sources said.

Aderotimi came to Philadelphia in hopes of getting a rounder rump so she could get more hip-hop modeling gigs, according to The Sun.

The woman Aderotimi turned to is also involved in the hip-hop world, sources said.

This was the second time Aderotimi turned to this person for buttocks enhancement, sources say. Aderotimi and her friend -- who had her hips done this time around -- had gotten butt-enhancement procedures last November, sources said.

The friend paid $1,800 to get hip injections while the Aderotimi paid an unknown amount to have her buttocks enhanced, sources said.

They had found out about the procedures online, said sources.

Police issued a search warrant Tuesday night at the Bergen County, N.J., home of a woman they think set up the appointment online, Lt. Ray Evers said. The woman was questioned and is being considered a witness rather than a suspect.
