Gunman Dies Inside Home After Shooting Woman in Quiet Pennsylvania Neighborhood: Police

UPDATE: The Montgomery County District Attorney has identified the woman slain in the murder-suicide.

A large police presence descended on a quiet Montgomery County neighborhood after a shooting at a townhouse that left a woman hospitalized and the suspected shooter dead.

Gunfire rang out shortly before 7 p.m. on Karen's Court in the Montgomery Place condominiums in North Wales, Pennsylvania, said Montgomery Township Police Chief Scott Bendig.

The shooting left an unidentified woman shot outside the home. Medics medevaced her from the scene to the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, said Bendig.

A short time later SWAT could be seen surrounding the home, which had blood on the door, where the gunman was believed to be holed up, said police.

Police said they were still searching for the shooter around 8:30 p.m. Just before 10 p.m. they said they found the shooter dead in a home but didn't say how the shooter died.

The condo complex where the shooting took place is comprised of multiple town homes and includes tennis courts and a swimming pool. It sits behind Montgomery Commons Shopping Center along Welsh Road near Dekalb Pike.
