Tractor-Trailer Removed, I-76 Reopened

Crews take hours to clean up overturned tractor-trailer.

A crash resulting in an overturned tractor-trailer closed I-76 eastbound for hours Tuesday morning.

The crash happened along the Schuylkill Expressway around 9 a.m. causing a closure from the Vine Street Expressway (I-676) to Passyunk Avenue.

I-676 westbound was backed up all morning into the afternoon as a result of the closure.

At one point, traffic was backed up to Route 202.

Crews removed the vehicle around 12:25 p.m., more than three-and-a-half hours after the accident and remained on the scene for clean up.

Around 1:30 p.m. traffic finally started to get by the crash scene.

The driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries, said Pennsylvania State Police.
