Dog Set on Fire in Fairmount Park

An officer with the PSPCA says the dog was wrapped in a blanket and set on fire

A dog was set on fire and found inside Fairmount Park, according to the Pennsylvania SPCA. The organization had an officer on the scene early Tuesday afternoon at 33rd Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue to investigate.

According to the PSPCA, the dog may be a male "pit-bull type." It was wrapped in a blanket and set on fire. The animal's body is being taken back to the organization's headquarters on Erie Avenue. A necropsy, which is an autopsy performed on an animal, will be done to determine how the dog died.

The PSPCA is asking anyone who has information that will help them investigate this case, to please call their anti-cruelty hotline at 1-866-601-SPCA.
