Suspected Shoplifter Shoots at Mall Security

Del. security guard: Shoplifting suspect shot at me

A security guard at Christiana Mall reported a suspected shoplifter fired at him when the guard confronted the man and his alleged accomplice in the mall's parking lot, Delaware State Police said.

The security guard was alerted to Myles Turner, 17, and Aaron Mills, 18, after the duo set off the alarm a little after noon at an Abercrombie and Fitch Store after they allegedly left the store with some clothes they didn't pay for.

A store employee followed the men out of the store to ask the duo to pay for the items but they kept going, police said.

The mall security guard approached the men in the parking lot of the mall and attempted to stop them by grabbing Turner's backpack, police said.

Turner then allegedly turned and fired a single shot from a handgun at the guard and the store employee. The bullet missed and luckily no one was injured.

The suspects fled on foot but were caught a short time later on a DART bus, cops said.

Police recovered the stolen Abercrombie and Fitch clothes, they said.

Turner faces robbery, firearm, reckless endangerment and conspiracy charges. Mills faces similar charges.
