Crews Recover Car, Woman Still Missing

Search teams recovered a car they say crashed into the Schuylkill River. The woman who was driving the vehicle is still missing.

It happened Thursday just after 4 p.m. as the woman was driving along Ferry Road and Kelly Drive.

"The woman came down Ferry Road doing about 90 and she came straight through the wall," said one witness.

Witnesses say the woman managed to get out of the car and scream for help. She was then swept away by the fast-moving water.

Police believe the driver is a middle-aged black woman with short hair.

Authorities recovered what they believe to be the woman's purse and cell phone though they weren't able to find any information on her identity.

They later recovered the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis that the woman drove. Police say the car belongs to a man in West Philadelphia and that he let a friend borrow it. Police also say there's no information on the woman who was driving it however.

The search for the woman continues.
