Blue Angels Ax NJ Air Show Gig

The most famous famous flying team in the U.S. won’t be making an appearance in the Garden State Memorial Day Weekend as originally planned.

The Blue Angels announced Thursday that they were pulling out of a scheduled appearance at the Millville Wheels & Wings Air Show.

“The Blue Angels regret any inconvenience and look forward to continuing to represent the Navy and Marine Corps service members serving around the world,” the Blue Angels said in a release.

Earlier the Blue Angels said they were going into a self-imposed “safety stand down” following an incident last weekend in Virginia:

This cancellation is due to a safety stand down period imposed by the team’s commanding officer after a lower-than-normal maneuver that took place during the team’s last performance at Lynchburg Regional Air Show, May 22 in Lynchburg, Va. Following this low maneuver all aircraft landed safely without damage or injury to personnel.

During the training stand-down the team will remain in Pensacola for additional training and air show demonstration practice.

In any case it looks like the show will go on Saturday and Sunday at the Millville Airport without the headliner.

"Our show is on," air show director Lisa Jester told the Daily Journal. "We just found out about it. We're going to have a show. We're going to try to fill some gaps. This is out of our control."

Tickets to the event are on sale now.
