Drew's Girlfriend Lawyers Up

Christina Raines hires Gloria Allred

One of the most prominent women's rights attorneys in the nation has been hired by Drew Peterson's on-again, off-again girlfriend.

Gloria Allred, who has been involved in numerous high-profile cases, has been retained by Christina Raines as a spokesperson in the case against Drew Peterson.

"Chrissy was shocked when Drew was arrested on a charge that he killed Kathleen Savio (his third wife)," Allred wrote in a statement released Friday.  "She takes no position on whether or not he is guilty of that crime or whether or not he had anything to do with the disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy Peterson. That is for the jury to decide. However, her heart goes out to both families who have suffered such a terrible loss."

Allred earlier this month sued the Octomom, alleging that she had signed a deal for a reality-TV show. Allred is seeking to have a guardian appointed for Suleman’s brood to manage the money she said Suleman will make by exploiting her clan for TV.  In February, she was hired by the woman some have romantically linked to actor Morgan Freeman.

Peterson, 55, and Raines, 24, made headlines when they got engaged and again when they broke up earlier this year. Raines insisted that her engagement with the former Bolingbrook police sergeant had been a publicity stunt.

If you've been living under a rock for the past year, Peterson is the guy who's suspected in his fourth wife's disappearanceStacy Peterson has not been found, and technically, she and Drew are still legally married.  He was arrested and indicted a week ago in the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.  Amidst a media circus, Raines moved out of the Peterson family home a day after the arrest.
