Strasbourg to be site of fashion explosion this weekend

Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy have done more for the kitten heel than any women in world history, besides Audrey Hepburn.

The kitten heel is, of course, a low-heeled woman's dress shoe that gives the shoe just the eentsiest bit of lift so that it doesn't look like a flat. And whether you are a million-foot-tall ex-model or just a million-foot-tall ex-hospital administrator, the kitten heel is your go-to shoe for when you want to dress up but do not want to tower over your fellow humans.

Not that there's any avoiding the towering, of course, when you're Michelle Obama and you are meeting Great Britain's very tiny queen, or when you're Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and you're standing next to your husband.

Anyway, maybe they can each finally break out the stilettos this weekend when they hang out together in Strasbourg, France. Both women will be there with their husbands, who are attending some sort of dull political event for important world leaders -- a NATO get-together or somesuch? -- while they go on tours of cathedrals and a cancer research institute.
