Connecticut Hearts Sarah Palin

State group is first in U.S. to support Palin for prez

Connecticut seems to love Sarah Palin. First, a Connecticut company Hero Builders made Palin action figures, now a local group says it is the first in the nation to register to raise money to draft the Alaska governor and former Vice Presidential  candidate for president.

Paul Streitz, of Darien, said the Federal Election Commission has confirmed the "2012 Draft Sarah Committee" is the first to file papers. Streitz is the national chairman of the Palin draft group, the Washington Independent reported last month.

All donations collected by the committee will be used for grassroots organizing to build support for the Alaska governor and John McCain's former running mate, Streitz said.

The committee so far has collected about $3,000, Streitz said. Donations will be shared with Palin's organization once she declares her candidacy, which she has not yet done.

The state committee's first organizational meeting is set for Tuesday in West Haven.
