A parole board has again denied parole for a northeastern Pennsylvania woman who pleaded guilty in the poisoning death of her husband two decades ago.
The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens' Voice reports that the state Board of Probation and Parole decided Tuesday that 50-year-old Joann Curley poses a risk to the community, minimizes her crime and lacks remorse.
Curley pleaded guilty in 1996 to third-degree murder in the 1991 death of 32-year-old Robert Curley. Prosecutors said she mixed rat poison into his iced tea.
The denial comes two months after the victim's relatives were able to address the board for the first time because of a new state law instead of just writing letters.

Curley can seek parole again in 2014. Her 10 to 20-year sentence expires in December 2016.
Susan Hooper, sister of Robert Curley, told the Wilkes-Barre Citizens' Voice, "We plan on doing whatever we have to do to keep her in jail for as long as we possibly can. We'll do whatever we have to do to keep her in jail.
