But the final interception sealed the deal, and Kolb emerged victorious. "We made it happen when it counted," he said. "Our defense was dead tired, and we got those five turnovers and that big one at the end. We had to have this game, and we played with that kind of mentality." He's still benched, though!

San Francisco struck first with a Michael Crabtree touchdown reception right in front of Dimitri Patterson. The Eagles would respond with three TDs before fending off a 14-point Niners surge in the fourth quarter.

The first was courtesy tight end Brent Celek, who caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Kolb and managed to keep that knee off the ground until breaking the plane of the goal line.

He's a bird! He's a ... bird! LeSean McCoy flew for 138 yards of total offense and his own touchdown in the second quarter. He very nearly cost the Eagles the game late when he inexplicably went down two yards short of a game-clinching first down, but was saved by a Trevard Lindley interception that kept San Fran from a tying field goal.

McCoy earned his 92 rushing yards and 46 receiving yards while playing with a broken rib suffered last week. He is tougher than you. He is tougher than all of us.

Not so tough, this particular game? Niners running back Frank Gore, usually so stellar, fumbled twice and lost both. Altogether, the Eagles' defense recorded five turnovers.

The first of those came from Dimitri Patterson, who intercepted an Alex Smith pass to Ted Ginn. Smith committed three turnovers, prompting a thorough booing from the home crowd at Candlestick Park.

Brandon Graham forced Smith to fumble during a sack to start the fourth quarter. Quintin Mikell recovered, running the ball back 52 yards to stretch the Eagles' lead to 24-10. Smith then talked Mike Singletary out of pulling him from the game, and led the 49ers on two scoring drives.

The first of those ended with a touchdown pass to tight end Vernon Davis, for whom the Eagles could not find an answer -- Davis had 104 yards on five catches while the Eagles defense was gouged for 364 yards overall.
