Fly Non-Stop From Philly to Israel

The next time you go to Israel you don't have to go through all the trouble flying from Newark, N.J. or New York JFK's. Starting Tuesday U.S. Airways will fly non-stop to Tel Aviv from Philly.

“We're very excited about it and pleased by the strong bookings we are seeing, even into the fall,” said the airline's Senior Vice President based in Philadelphia, Suzanne Boda to the Inquirer.

The many hassles and layovers that Philly travelers faced before may finally be a thing of the past.

The daily flights to Tel Aviv give travelers a new option for getting to the homeland.

They took a test flight last week. It was historic and would intensify competition among the carriers, said Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Ira Schwartz to the Inky.

“The competition is already starting. El Al is offering free transportation to Newark for people who want to fly to Israel,” said Schwartz to the Inky. “This is going to result in lower fares, which I think is going to be great for the consumer.”
