Tonight: Matisyahu Plays A.C.

Kosher Dancehall: What started on the Jimmy Kimmel Show as a bit of a novelty -- an Orthodox Jew who performs beat boxing and dancehall reggae? -- has become, in the last five years, a good deal more substantial, as the West Chester, Pa.-born Matisyahu has played in ever larger arenas. Tonight, he's in AC at the Music Box in the Borgata. From $35 9:00 p.m.

Speak, Poetry: Nigerian-born Def Jam poetess Bassey Ikpi returns to Philly for another evening of spoken word jams, only this time she's also handing the mic off to some local friends. Joining Bassey in performing tonight will be the 2011 Brave New Voices champions, Philly Youth Poetry Movement. $15. 7:00 p.m.

Continental Drift: One of the first high-end bars to open in a resurrected Old City many years ago, Stephen Starr's venerable Continental has been overshadowed over the years, but still holds a special place in our hearts. This early evening, enjoy $3 drafts, $4 wines, $5 cocktails and $1-$2 tapas, while sitting outside and taking in the last vestiges of the summer. 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every afternoon by peeping Play's Dance Card.
