“The Last Airbender” Takes Over Reading Pagoda

"The Sixth Sense" director M. Night Shyamalan will shoot scenes for his new movie "The Last Airbender" at the Pagoda on Mt. Penn in Reading on Thursday and Friday, April 2 and 3.

The Pagoda is a seven-story Japanese-style building constructed over a century ago and will serve as a re-creation of Southeast Asia for Shyamalan.

Fans of the movie’s stars, Dev Patel ("Slumdog Millionaire"), Jackson Rathbone ("Twilight") and NBC10’s own Mac Francis have been gathering on Mt. Penn since yesterday hoping to get a glimpse of Hollywood movie making magic. However, once filming begins, the set will be closed.

"The Last Airbender" is scheduled for release in July of 2010.
