The Decemberists Play the Academy

All Kinds of Wit: The unlikely contender, Tabu, is quickly becoming the headquarters for indie comedy in the city. Tonight, you can catch Sketch Playground, a variety show featuring performances by sketch groups like Hate Speech Committee, improv troupes like heavyweights Iron Lung and stand-ups like Ian Vaflor. 8 p.m.

The Seminal and the New: The Decemberists' recent re-emergence as a straight country-rock band may have dismayed any long-time fans of their bombastic inde-opera stylings, but seeing them take to the grand Academy of Music stage may melt away any reservations. The equally polarizing Best Coast will open with their easy-breezy, girly surf rock. $40; 8 p.m.

The Days Al Fresco: Another perfect day, another great reason to linger over sidewalk cocktails until things get a little fuzzy. This time, we're sending you to Barbuzzo late night for $3 draft beer, $4 glasses of Sangria, $5 glasses of wine and $10 best-Mediteranean-you'll-ever-have dishes. 10:30 p.m.-12 a.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every afternoon by peeping Play's Dance Card.
