β€˜The Affair' Author at Free Library

Unplugged: A few months back the mighty North Star Bar launched a new, acoustic series in their newly reopened upstairs dining space. Dubbed the "Victorian Dining Room Series," the monthly program features local artists playing stripped-down sets. Tonight, the series continues with Philly's own Ol' Bill Dollar and James Suit. Free. 8:00 p.m.

Killing It: You want consistency? Author Lee Child has been cranking out bestselling mystery novels at an unbelievable rate. Since his 1997 debut, The Killing Floor, which introduced the world to Jack Reacher, he has produced 16 more books in the 'Reacher' series at a steady rate of one per year. Hear excerpts from his latest effort, The Affair, tonight at the Free Library. Free. 7:30 p.m.

Go Bananas: South Street isn't known for its subtlety, so there's no reason to saunter into Blue Bananas Cafe expecting moderation. None of this keeps their extended happy hour from being pleasantly surprising, however. Dig into $5 martinis, $4 well drinks and $2 domestic beers, and don't look back. 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every afternoon by peeping Play's Dance Card.
