That Guy: Steve Phillips

This week's That Guy Profile is Steve Phillips.

This week's Profile is Steve Phillips of New Jersey. Philly Fashion guru Sabir Peele tells us why Steve Phillips is this week's That Guy.

What I like about this look.

Steven's look is mild weather winter appropriate. Since we have been hits with waves of unseasonable warmth during the day and some-what "normal" winter weather temperatures at night, his  use of a sweater vest and scarf work great for light layering. By adding a scarf with small dash of color, he has done a great job of breaking up the navy blue base of this outfit.

Where could this outfit be worn?

The look is perfect for the office, a dinner date or for a holiday party.

Where can you buy this particular look?

If you are in the market for a sweater vest, Lands End may be your best choice in terms of fair price and variety of colors. As a complement to your navy outfit, a nice pair of camel colored, Oxford style lace up shoes is an excellent option. Brands like Johnston & Murphy and Allen Edmonds carry some very well crafted Oxford dress shoes that can be dressed up or down, depending on the situation. Grab a solid scarf with minor color accents to bring your entire look together. Brands like Brooks Brothers and Ralph should be your go to for plaid and rugby pattern scarves.

 Style tip?

Generally, I am a fan of this look particularly because of the use of a sweater vest. The sweater vest has gotten a bad rep over the years and has been synonymous with professor types. The great things about a sweater vest is that you can use it to layering with suits, jean jackets or a top coat without the adding bunching in the arms due to the lack of sleeves. Since this outfit is primarily one color (navy), take a risk and up the ante with a bold color sock.
