Take a “Wild Ride” in Wildwood

Morey’s Piers Amusement Parks and Neil Armstrong have something in common -- they both made a huge splash in the summer of '69.

Of course Armstrong's step on the moon was "one giant leap for mankind" celebrated worldwide but Morey's birth was one fun dive into amusements that forever changed the Jersey Shore.

Morey’s Piers located on the boardwalk in Wildwood, N.J. will celebrate their 40th milestone Thursday with a party and the release of the book “A Wild Ride."

"Running the business of an amusement park is a lot like spending a day at an amusement park," described author, Jack Wright. "Sometimes you'll be breathless, and other times you'll fell like your stomach is in your throat and your heart is in your mouth," he said.

In honor of that pit of the stomach feeling, the celebration will kick off Thursday afternoon with human cannonball shooting (yes, it is an actual human) at the Tea Cup amusement ride, located on Morey’s Mariner’s Landing Pier at Schellenger Ave.

The party will also include fun activities for you and your family and free food. The Morey family will be on hand to talk about their dedicated team and to introduce the new 40th Anniversary book.

“The book celebrates our past, present and future and identifies the key planners, architects, associates and artists who have contributed to our last 40 years,” said company Executive Vice-President, Jack Morey.

So get down to the piers to remember 40 years of fun and hopefully many more years of thrills and spills.
