Thrift Store Sustains Expensive Damage in Break-in

Vandals smash thrift store's glass doors

With donations lagging, it's already been a tough year for the Society of St. Vincent DePaul's thrift store, and then Friday night the Frankford Avenue location was struck by vandals.

It is unknown what the vandals took, if they took anything, but they smashed glass doors to get inside.

Store manager Debbie Scullin said the damage will cost a lot to repair.

"We have to fix two doors now, and it sounds like nothing, but we just had a whole pane of glass put in, and I think that was close to a thousand dollars," she said.

Fixing the damage will take money the store doesn't have right now.

The store provides the less fortunate with clothing and furniture.
