Girls Rock Philly and Mew Gallery have teamed up to present Shop, Rock & Roll, a holiday craft bazaar and rock show, on Saturday Dec. 13, at the Old Pine Community Center, 401 Lombard Street, Philadelphia. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. the event will feature local artists and crafters selling unique gift items, a bake sale and a rock show by Girls Rock Philly camper band Iron Tree and camper DJ Sassafras. Admission is sliding scale of $5-10
Participating artists include Julia Curcio of Yarn Beast with her cute, scrumptiously scented knit sachets, Jim Horwat with his Pat’s and Geno’s prints, Lance Pawling with his assortment of “grandma” arts, as well as crafting stations for participants who would like to make their own stocking stuffers.
Proceeds will benefit Girls Rock Philly, now working to present its third year of camp, scheduled for August 2009. A weeklong summer day camp exclusively for girls ages 9 to 17, organized and run by an all-female group of volunteers, Girls Rock Philly is held on the campus of Girard College each August.
