Schulson Opening Restaurant in Ardmore

Hunky chef Michael Schulson of Sampan and Izakaya is headed to the Main Line to open a new American eatery. Partnering with Schulson is Rob Wasserman, the brains behind Rouge and burger Mecca 500 Degrees. While the concept is nothing new for Wasserman, this is a break away from the norm for Schulson, who has spun gold out of rice noodles and edamame dumplings.

"Everyone knows me as the Pan-Asian guy, and it's been good to me," said Schulson. "But, I was classically trained in French and Italian cuisine. I'm excited about the new opportunity. We want to do a place like The Standard (Grill) in New York."

While he wouldn't divulge the exact location, Schulson did say that Ardmore is the landing spot for the new project. He also mentioned that he would strictly be dealing with the food, and Wasserman would handle the rest.

"Rob does an amazing job running his places. I don't know he does it." said Schulson. "If I can just focus on the food, I hope to be able to keep quality up where it needs to be across all of my restaurants."
