Red Carpet Recap: Emmys 2010

The Emmys red carpet had the blues last night. Lea Michele, Julie Bowen, Julianna Margulies, Connie Britton and Jane Krakowski were just a few of the nominees and attendees who went with navy blue gowns. The style of the dresses varied, but the color was almost exactly the same.

Of the navy dresses, the most stunning had to have been Lea Michele’s. The “Glee” actress (who shared her 24th birthday with the Emmys 62nd telecast) wore an Oscar de la Renta gown. The dress was strapless with a sweetheart neckline. The mermaid-style gown had layers of ruffles, almost flamenco-style. Michele, who was nominated, chose stunning Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Her necklace was breathtaking. She chose to wear her hair down, which helped to keep her look “young.”

White dresses were also popular. In fact, a white dress with a halter neckline, hardware/embellishments around the halter and an up do was a look worn by three different women. Kim Kardashian, Giuliana Rancic and Rose Byrne all had on dresses that were so similar, you feel like stylists might lose their jobs!

Who was the Red Carpet MVP of the night? Sofia Vergara. The “Modern Family” actress was a presenter and a nominee. She is a star and she dressed like one. Wearing a strapless Carolina Herrera gown, Vergara looked radiant. The fitted dress was a light yellow/gold dress embroidered with bright gold beading. She wore gold bracelets on both wrists, an oversized gold ring, large gold drop earrings and her long dark hair down. The dress would be too much on most actresses, but because Vergara carries herself with such poise and confidence, she simply stole the show.
