Philly Auto Show Is Back

Plenty of wheels, fun at the Convention Center

Vroooom, it’s almost time for one of the most anticipated events of the year, the Philadelphia Auto Show.

One of the biggest auto shows in the nation -- featuring about 700 vehicles under one roof -- parks at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from this Saturday to Sunday, Feb. 6.

“The buzz is back in the auto industry and we want everyone to be a part of it,” said Dominic M. Conicelli, chairman of the 2011 Philadelphia Auto Show.

During this nine-day event there are going to be even more amazing cars to see. Fiat is making an appearance for the first time bringing the total number of manufactures to 40.

The 550,00-square-foot display floor will encompass a variety of vehicles giving consumers a chance to really boost their automobile researching experience while having plenty of fun.

Plus there are plenty of unique wheels you might not see anywhere else -- the exotic, antique and new cars are out of this world.

The Vintage Display offers many people a trip down memory lane with antique and classic cars -- spanning more than 100 years. Some of these historic cars include a 1910 Otto Roadster, a 1931 Voisin and a 1966 Cobra 427 Roadster.

Also get a look at exotic wheels like an Aston Martin-the Rapide, DBS and Vantage N240, a few from Bentley, two from Rolls Royce, a GranTurismo Coupe 4.7 and two cars from Lamborghini.

Along with the classic and exotic will be some pre-production models that have yet to hit the floors of dealerships including the Audi A7, Ford Mustang BOSS 302, Mazda 5 and Volvo S60.

Plus the 2011 show includes two special “Ride and Drive” events. Guests will be able to test-drive certain models during their visit. These events will take place the last weekend of the auto show.

And mark your calendars for the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids’ Foundation Day on Feb. 6 and the black-tie tailgate charitable preview gala on Friday night.

General admission tickets good for any day of the show cost $10 for adults and $6 for kids 7 to 12 if you buy online before the show. Adult tickets cost more at the door on weekends.

There is also an opportunity to get tickets at a discount through some car dealers. You can redeem the $3 discount at the Pennsylvania Convention Center box office. Tickets are also available through SEPTA as well as unlimited one-day travel passes for public transportation in Philadelphia.

Plus, some of the money from tickets will go to the Auto Show foundation and Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House Charities.
