NJ Police Officer Charged With Drunkenly Crashing Car Into Bar

Officials in New Jersey say a township police officer drunkenly crashed his car into the front of a bar.

Hamilton Township police say they were called to the scene early Friday to find off-duty Officer Edward Lugo, who had crashed into the tavern. NJ.com reports the Mercer County Prosecutors Office says no one besides Lugo was in the vehicle.

Lugo was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and has been issued summonses for charges of reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. No one else was injured in the crash.

Hamilton Township police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
