Mom Shoots Teen Son in the Knee During Argument Inside Logan Home, Police Say

A mother is accused of shooting her teenage son during an argument inside their home in the Logan section of Philadelphia, police said. 

Officers arrived to the home on the 4600 block of North 12th Street shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday to find a 15-year-old boy with a bullet wound to his left leg, investigators said.

The boy told police that his mother, 38-year-old Rhonda Alvin, shot him during an argument, investigators said.

The boy was listed in stable condition at the hospital while his mother was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and related counts. 

Alvin has a permit to carry a gun, police said.

It was unclear if Alvin, who is jailed on $75,000 bail, has an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
