Mica's Summer Menu Worth the Trip

Mica, the second BYO restaurant in the quickly-expanding Chip Roman empire, has updated its menu for summer with some travel-worthy dishes. We here at The Feast don't usually promote spots too far away from the friendly confines of downtown Philly, but when word of a poulard wrapped in fried chicken skin hit our ears, we were off and running.

The dish did not disappoint, and was joined by some amazingly clever offerings like a shot glass of chilled ajo blanco, tuna belly tartare, and a perfectly cooked egg covered in shaved summer truffle over grits. The other all-star dish of the meal was a generous chunk of salmon belly with hearts-of-palm, kissed with a salsa verde that had a serious spicy burn usually reserved for tiny Washington Avenue tacquerias.

The tasting menu is the way to go here, but be prepared to pay a pretty penny. The highlighted ingredients change each week depending on the season and availability, and diners can choose multiple-courses (from three to seven plates, between $50 and $90) depending on their mood and wallet weight. If you want to do Mica up big, there is a 10-course Chef's Table tasting for a hefty $120.
