McNabb a No Go at Practice Again

Eagles QB only watches practices

Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was only a spectator at practice Thursday and it appears unlikely that he will play Sunday.

D-Mac, who suffered a broken rib in a season-opening win over the Carolina Panthers, was expected to miss his second straight game when the Eagles (1-1) host the Kansas City Chiefs (0-2).

With the Eagles bye week looming and a winless team coming to the Linc there really was no rush to put McNabb back on the field and in harm’s way. Resting No. 5 gives him more time to heal before the Eagles host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 11.

Two other important Birds also sat out practice Thursday as wideout DeSean Jackson (groin) and running back Brian Westbrook (ankle) nursed injuries.

Third-year QB Kevin Kolb made his first career start last week in a loss to the New
Orleans Saints and is expected to start again.

Veterans Jeff Garcia and Michael Vick, back from his league suspension, will be the backups.

Vick should see the field Sunday. The team prepared an β€œextensive” set of plays for their new Wildcat weapon to use Sunday, according to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio.
