McGillin's Goes Green

It might be Philly’s oldest bar, but that doesn’t mean McGillin’s Olde Ale House isn’t up with the newest, environmentally friendly technology.

In fact, the century-and-a-half-old bar has made great strides in reducing their carbon footprint.

The Center City pub recently switched every light bulb in their establishment from traditional to energy-efficient LED lighting.

“Though we remain true to our history by conserving and preserving our historic exterior, we try our best to incorporate green technology every chance we get,” Chris Mullins, co-owner of McGillin’s, said in a press release.

The light bulb switch could reduce McGillin’s electric bill by more than 25-percent.

“We expect real savings over time with no reduction in quality,” says Mullins.
