Matthew Izzo Closing Midtown Store

We'll be adding this to our list of 2011's most crushing store closures: Matthew Izzo has just informed us that he'll be shuttering his eponymous Midtown boutique next week: "I sold my website and have a new business partner," Izzo tells The Feast. "This is a major upgrade for my business to have a investor take me in and help me build my brand with new websites and a support team." Izzo will now be splitting his time between Philly and New York City, where his new business partner is based; the Matthew Izzo website will soon be revamped as "Modern Living by Matthew Izzo." But fans of Izzo's hand-crafted jewelry and candles needn't fret: the store owner tells us he'll be upgrading the lines to sell wholesale, as he shifts his focus away from retail and onto product developement and interior design.

We recommend you stop by Izzo's store this weekend to say your good-byes. The store owner will be offering markdowns on his shop's inventory, with apparel priced to move at $10 to $20, and jewelry and candles marked at 50 percent off.
