Police have killed a man in Philadelphia who was firing a gun in the air and refused to drop the weapon when officers told him to do so.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says police responding to a call of shots fired Wednesday night found a man on his porch with a gun. He says officers ordered the man to drop the gun, but he refused and raised it at officers. Small says police then fired at the man, hitting him at least twice in the chest.
The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital. His name wasn't immediately released.
