Man Found Hypothermic and Injured After Apparent Farm Machine Accident

New Castle County authorities say a man was found hypothermic and seriously injured after an apparent farm machine accident in Port Penn.

Paramedics say the 49-year-old man was found Friday evening after his family went out to search for him when he did not return home. The man had hypothermia from exposure to the cold air, as well as injuries to his face, chest and extremities.

Paramedics suspect the man had attempted to crawl to a more populated area for help.

Port Penn firefighter John Newman says crews suspected it was a mowing accident. But the patient was not able to tell paramedics what happened.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. No other details were released on the patient's condition.
