Main Line Jazz and Food Festival

The Main Line suburb of Wayne is gearing up for its seventh year of celebrating local music at the Land Rover Main Line Jazz & Food Festival this weekend.

The festival, from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, will feature five groups of jazz performers from the Philadelphia area -- Ellas y Amigos, Highbrid, Standard Deviation, the Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra, and Laura Munich.

Ellas y Amigos, comprised of seven jazz performers, was founded by Donna Bostock, a faculty member at Philly’s own Associacion de Musicos Latino Americanos (AMLA). The group specializes in Caribbean Latin jazz.

Highbrid, playing music since 2006, is another local ensemble incorporating constrasting genres such as soul, jam, and rock.

Standard Deviation has four members, three of whom are music teachers.

The Lars Halle Jazz Orchestra is comprised of young musicians, all under the age of 32, who total 17 in number.

Laura Munich, the lone solo act, is a local favorite and has spent much of her life singing in the area.

Visitors will be able to eat outside and enjoy the performances.

Participating restaurants include some local favorites in the burbs -- Christopher’s, Georges’ and The Boathouse.

Performances are scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
