For those whose idea of a tasty meal is a well-poured pint of Guinness, the fact that it's Restaurant Week holds little appeal. And with Philly Beer Week still over a month away, savvy suds lovers are feeling a bit left out in the cold.
To wet whistles and keep palates stimulated, beloved West Philly watering hole Local 44 kicks off its "Seasonal Stout Series" tonight (or thereabouts). The inaugural beer of the series will be Brooklyn Brewery's Black Chocolate Stout. The beer has been well-reviewed and is 10 percent alcohol which means you'll get a nice buzz along with your coffee and chocolate overtones.
To avoid flashbacks of college where you finally got to the keg just as it was kicked, get there early for a taste. Local 44 only has a limited number of kegs of the spotlighted quaff.
