First there was the skinny jean, now there's the skinny cargo pant. With top denim brands manufacturing their own take on the skinny cargo, it seems that the trend is here to stay. One designer in particular seems to have a monopoly on the skinny cargo market: Spotted on celebrities like Jessica Alba and Rihanna, J Brand's "Houlihan", $230, is 2010's "it" pair of skinny cargos. According to a NY Times article, J Brand has sold over 75,000 pairs of Houlihans since the beginning of this year, with 40,000 pairs on backorder.
We called the Bloomingdales in King of Prussia, and we were told they have a "decent amount" of the Houlihan in stock, in varying sizes and colors. While our source tells us that the pant's popularity has tapered off since the onset of fall, we think the skinny cargo may still be a trend worth investing in; the cotton twill fabric and cropped cut will easily segue into next year's spring and summer styles. And, the style offers great versatility; we'd love to see the pants paired with strappy sandals or dressed up with a great pair of heels.
