Increases Proposed for Delaware State Park Fees

The first in a series of public meetings will be held this week on proposals to increase fees at Delaware state parks.

The News Journal reports
the proposals include increasing state resident fees for vehicles at inland park gates by $1 to $4. Out-of-state visitor fees would increase by $2 to $8. For ocean parks, fees would rise to $5 for state residents and $10 for out-of-state visitors.

The first in a series of meetings will be held Tuesday at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Earlier this year, state lawmakers granted the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control the authority to set fees that reflect costs to cover expenses after hearing public comment and approval by advisory councils.

The department says park fees have not changed for 10 years.
